January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
At DAFS, prevention begins with awareness, education, and community action. Human trafficking often goes unseen—but when communities know the signs and speak up, lives are protected and futures are changed.
This month, we stand with survivors and recommit to prevention, safety, and hope for individuals and families across our region.
DAFS provides shelter and services for female and male survivors, along with their children and pets. Help is available 24/7 through our crisis line at 1-800-649-1092.
💙 We are grateful to work in partnership with and for the continued support of Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch as we strengthen prevention efforts and support survivors across Mississippi.

🛏️ 4,509 nights of safe shelter
🚗 1,369 transportation assists to court, work, medical care, and reunification
📞 1,229 crisis interventions when survivors needed immediate help
🤝 984 individual advocacy services
🧠 558 counseling & support groups
💵 215 emergency financial assists
🏡 290 relocation assists helping survivors start over
⚖️ 201 DVIP classes & court advocacy breaking cycles of violence
Behind every number is a person who found safety.
A child who slept without fear.
A survivor who chose a new beginning.
For 42 years, DAFS has stood beside survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking — and this year’s impact proves that hope is stronger than violence.
Thank you to our staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and advocates who make this work possible every single day. 💙
Together, we are changing lives.
