💜 Today is National PTSD Awareness Day.
PTSD touches people from every walk of life. It affects survivors of abuse, and it is also common among military members, veterans, first responders, and their families. No one should have to face the effects of trauma alone.
At DAFS, we recognize that trauma can have a profound impact on individuals and families. PTSD can sometimes exist alongside family violence, but it is never an excuse for abuse. Everyone deserves to live in a home that is safe, respectful, and free from fear.
If you are experiencing abuse or living in fear, you are not alone. DAFS offers free, confidential counseling and advocacy services to help survivors heal, regain hope, and build a safer future.
We also believe people can learn healthier ways to respond to conflict. Through our free Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP), participants are challenged to take responsibility for their actions, develop healthier relationship skills, and break the cycle of abuse. Accountability and change can happen—and stronger families and safer communities benefit when they do.
Healing is possible. Safety is essential. Hope is real.
