The team from Domestic Abuse Family Shelter was honored to speak at the Building Resilience in Social Work Practice conference held at the Pearl River Community College Woodall Center in Hattiesburg Friday.
It was a privilege to share insights from the work we do each day serving survivors across our 11-county service area β from safety planning and crisis response to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.
Connecting with social workers and helping professionals who are committed to strengthening individuals and families in our communities was both inspiring and energizing.
A heartfelt thank you to Danyella and Aspen for organizing such a meaningful event. Opportunities like this allow us to collaborate, grow, and continue improving the services we provide to survivors.
Together, we build resilience. πβ¨ ... See MoreSee Less

πβ¨ COMMUNITY. HEART. ACTION. β¨π
Just as our supply closets were getting LOW on hygiene items π§΄, cleaning supplies π§½, paper goods π§», and laundry essentials π§Ίβ¦ the Jones County Dudes & Dolls Pageant family showed ALL the way OUT! ππ₯
Thatβs not coincidence. Thatβs COMMUNITY. π
We are beyond grateful for Lindsey Carr-Freeman and every single person involved in this incredible annual event that benefits the survivors we serve at DAFS. Lindsey works multiple jobs πΌ, is a proud military mom πΊπΈ, a college mom π, and a school mom π β and somehow still finds time to pour into area nonprofits through pageants all year long. πβ¨
If there were a DAFS Volunteer of the Year awardβ¦ Lindsey Carr-Freeman would absolutely be a leading contender. ππ No question.
To every participant, family, and helper who gathered hygiene items, cleaning supplies, paper products, and laundry essentials β THANK YOU!!! ππ These are not βextras.β These are dignity items. Stability items. Fresh-start items. π Because of you, our shelves are fuller and our survivors are supported.
And yβallβ¦ these photos? πΈ This is just HALF of it from the two morning age groups! π€―π Weβll be back this afternoon for even more!
Big cheers π
Big gratitude π
Big, over-the-top THANK YOU!!! πβ¨
This is what community looks like. πππ
